The Story of the Founder

Since I was young, my mom always said,
“No matter what you do, always stay neat and presentable. The way you carry yourself shows your attitude toward life.”
Back then, I just thought being pretty made people happy — but that simple lesson quietly shaped my future.

I also remember my dad often dyeing his white hair at home.
He would ask us to buy hair dye for him, and I’d watch how carefully he worked in front of the mirror.
That was when I realized — taking care of yourself is also a gentle way of loving life.

In the year 2000, I watched the Japanese drama Beautiful Life starring Takuya Kimura and Tokiwa Takako.
It changed everything for me.
The hairstylist in that story didn’t just style hair — he helped people find confidence and joy again.
At that moment, I knew: I wanted to become that kind of hairstylist.

In 2012, Jeanette and I opened our first salon, TAKE TEAM Hair Salon — our dream’s first step.
Five years later, we launched THE PIECE Hair and Nail Salon at Paradigm Mall —
a place where beauty, creativity, and warmth come together.

When the pandemic hit, we made the heartbreaking decision to close TAKE TEAM.
It felt like cutting away a part of ourselves.
But just like hair that grows back stronger, we learned resilience —
that beauty isn’t only about looking perfect, but about having the courage to shine again.

Today, THE PIECE continues that mission —
to craft confidence and beauty, one piece at a time.
